What Is the TruCheck™ Cancer Screening Blood Test?
TruCheck™ is an advanced multi-cancer early screening blood test designed to look for Circulating Tumour Cells, commonly referred to as CTCs.
CTCs are cells that can be released by solid tumours into the bloodstream. The TruCheck™ laboratory process analyses a blood sample for these cells and can help identify signals associated with a range of solid-organ cancers.
The test is designed as a screening tool for eligible people who are not currently experiencing symptoms of cancer.

How Does TruCheck™ Work?
Unlike a routine blood test that measures levels of hormones, vitamins or other biomarkers, TruCheck™ specifically analyses the blood for Circulating Tumour Cells and clusters of these cells.
A venous blood sample is collected and sent for specialist laboratory analysis.
If CTCs are identified, the results may provide information about their likely tissue or organ of origin, helping guide appropriate follow-up investigation.
Who Is TruCheck™ Designed For?
TruCheck™ has strict clinical eligibility criteria and is not suitable for everybody.
As part of the current eligibility criteria, you should generally:
- Be aged 40 or over
- Have no current symptoms suggestive of cancer
- Have no current clinical or radiological suspicion of cancer
- Never have previously been diagnosed with cancer
- Never have received treatment for cancer
- Not have received a blood transfusion within 72 hours of the blood draw
People aged 35–40 may potentially be considered where they are deemed to be at higher risk, subject to clinical assessment.
Important: If You Currently Have Symptoms
TruCheck™ is intended for screening eligible people who do not currently have symptoms of cancer.
If you have a new lump, unexplained bleeding, unexplained weight loss, persistent changes in bowel habits, persistent pain or another symptom that could potentially indicate cancer, you should contact your GP rather than relying on a private screening blood test.
Urgent or concerning symptoms should always be appropriately medically investigated.

What Happens If My Result Is Positive?

What Does a Negative Result Mean?
A negative result means that no detectable cancer cells associated with the cancers covered by the test were identified circulating in your blood at the time your sample was tested.
Importantly, a negative TruCheck™ result does not guarantee that you are cancer-free and does not mean that you cannot develop cancer in the future.
The test also does not provide information about cancers that are not covered by the screening panel.
Does TruCheck™ Replace NHS Cancer Screening?
No. TruCheck™ should be considered an additional private screening option and should not replace NHS cancer screening programmes or medical investigations recommended by your doctor.
You should continue to attend any routine screening you are eligible for, including breast, cervical and bowel cancer screening, and seek medical advice if you develop concerning symptoms regardless of your TruCheck™ result.
